Our data sources
Every fit verdict on this site traces back to real evidence. Here is what we use and how we handle it.
Rider reviews
The backbone of our fit data is the rider reviews published on the major motorcycle gear retailers. For each product we collect the full set of reviews, keep only the ones native to their source so nothing is double counted, and read them for fit signals rather than star ratings alone. A single product can carry dozens to hundreds of reviews.
Structured fit reports
When a reviewer shares their height, weight, or body measurements alongside the size they bought and how it fit, we capture that as a structured fit report. These are what let us show a fit distribution and say "riders close to your measurements bought this size" instead of a vague "runs small." Riders can also submit their own fit reports directly through the share a fit report form.
Brand size charts
We use each brand's official, published size chart for the category, mapped to the product. The size calculator compares your measurements against that chart, not a generic one, because a women's medium is not the same across brands.
Rider community discussion
Where riders discuss gear in public communities, we surface relevant quotes as community mentions, linked to their source so you can read the original thread. These add color and edge cases that retailer reviews sometimes miss.
How we keep it current and honest
Fit data is only as deep as the reviews behind a product, and we say so: newer or niche gear with only a few reports gets a lighter, clearly-marked read rather than invented confidence. We refresh reviews and sizing over time so the picture stays current. How we turn these sources into a recommendation is documented on the fit scoring page.
