Initial Purchase Opinion

“Ill keep this to the point. I bought this last week and used it during a track day yesterday. I will update this review if/when I crash during a track day or race. All my opinions are based on using it with a race suit. - Its comfy and you dont notice once its on. - It does not ride up and stays right where it is when you put it on. - It fits perfectly over the race hump. - Its a bit of a pain to put on. You have to get used to it. Leaving it on all day is ideal. However, if its hot and need to take it on and off, put on your left glove before you put it on so it does not catch the wrist part”

Outstanding product - it works.

“This vest is well worth the price. I ordered a large and it fits well over my race suit. It is slightly tight to get in and out of but overall fits well over my race suit hump. I experienced the safety of the vest this past weekend after a high side flip off my bike crashing head into the ground and chest into the handlebars. While in the air I immediately felt the vest inflate within seconds and even though I had the wind knocked out of me I had no bones broken and my neck was stabilized by the vest. Well worth it.”

SIzing Misleading

“Awesome product, but the size chart is way off. Would have been nice to have the note about sizing running small when I bought the vest. Now its been too long to return, and thats my own fault, but still a bummer Revzilla wont help me out even though they realize how skewed the sizing is. Also if you go on the Helite website it has a slightly different size chart, which also makes note of the fact that youre supposed to take those measurements with GEAR ON! I would say thats pretty pertinent information for Revzilla to share, wouldnt you? Ill be buying an XL but not from Revzilla.”

Great investment in safety

“I ride on both street and track, and am very safety-minded (e.g. full leathers even on the street). Influenced by testimony from a fellow track rider whose doctor told him that his Hit-Air airbag vest saved his life, when this more streamlined product came out I was quick to grab one. Life saver

“Well, I'm not sure if it saved my life, but it definitely saved me from serious injures. I have lowsided on a track while traveling 70-80 mph, sled to gravel, tumbled a few times and ended up laying on my back. The vest was still inflated after I stood up. I only hurt my shoulder from initial impact and there were no marks on my helmet, it never touched the ground. The vest did a great job softening my landing and keeping my head immobile during the incident. No broken bones, no neck injury, no concussion. I feel much safer now that i know it works! Saved my life

“I was involved in a serious accident when I struck a guardrail at around 80 MPH. The wreck was entirely my fault, but had I not been wearing this vest I would not have survived. All of my limbs were nearly completely destroyed. Although I ended up not losing any. I remember the impacts vey clearly and I took several large impacts to my torso, the sharp metal of the guardrail perforated the thick front plate and punctured my lung cavity causing a collapsed lung. “I had a hard track collision recently and my Helite vest deployed prior to impact with the track and the subsequent tumbling that ensued. My visor was ripped off and I went head over heels multiple times. There is no question that I would have suffered neck injuries and likely broken my collarbone on both sides without this vest. Other vests just don't compare to this level of protection. Crash Tested

“I have had this for about a year, only for track riding. Had a mechanical failure at 100+ followed by a short trip through the grass, into hay bales, and ultimately a tire barrier. Bike cartwheeled 7-8 times, and apparently I did a pretty convincing superman impression followed by some rag-doll rolls of my own. After looking at the bike (CBR600), you would assume serious injury, but I'm convinced this airbag saved me. My helmet (Bell Race Star) NEVER TOUCHED THE GROUND. I stood up and thought I hurt by neck because I couldn't move it, until I realized the airbag was preventing me from turning”

Much more comfortable than I thought it would be

“I've been wearing this every time I ride for about a year now and It actually breathes very well. I was concerned that it would block a lot of airflow but I actually don't even notice any difference in air flow with or without it. One BIG thing to note is that there is a piece of metal on the buckle that hangs off the vest that you snap your strap to (that goes to the bike). That piece of metal will SCRATCH your gas tank up real bad on a sport bike if you don't wrap it in something. I wrapped mine in black duct tape and it's fine now. “Proof is in the pictures. Riding twisties in the hills and lowsided going 50 mph. Fully conscious, felt the bike give from under me and I separated from the bike. Felt the airbag inflate around me in a split second, couldnt even move my head left or right. Not a violent inflation, I just felt like I was wrapped in a firm pillow from neck to navel. “Very well made!! Fits nicely over external hump on racing suits. Best way to put vest on is to place over wrists and then reach for the sky as vest will slide down and then allow to fasten. Comes ready to deploy with canister.”

“Your paying for a brand name that guarantees a piece of mind and I got enough going on inside my leathers anyway by the chart saying 2 sizes up I think for some people maybe for other people no the chest plate is a little wide it stabs into my arms when I move sometimes should I exchange it for one size smaller but then I wonder if it will be to short in the back”
