Starts to fall apart after heavy use
“This is an excellent product but I cannot recommended it because it lacks longevity. I do street and track, so these shorts have seen about 700 miles of action since I bought them. Unfortunately the waist/pelvic bone padding is starting to become unstitched from the shorts' webbing. This is something I would expect after a good few thousand miles of heavy usage, not a few hundred. Take a look at the Alpinestars hard shorts if you want something with a longer lifespan. Otherwise, these Dainese shorts are stylish, comfortable and virtually invisible under riding pants. It's a real shame that th”

“Crash report: So I kinda fell off a cliff....aka fell off the cliff side of a shelf road offroading on little dualsport. Was going pretty slow, and didn't fall very far. However, it was pretty steep onto rocks, and I have only a very tiny bit of bruising around my right thigh, and since I fell mostly on that it probably would've been much worse without these. The pads feel pretty sturdy, and the coccyx protection feels weird at first but is REALLY nice for abruptly bumpy stuff that you don't have time to stand for. A little bit of a pain to get on and off, but I'm never riding offroad without”

Best Armored Shorts on the Market
“I own a pair of Alpine Stars armored shorts but bought these because I wanted something that would be cooler in hot weather. I was not disappointed. Compared to the Alpine Stars, these definitely breathe better thanks to the single layer of strong mesh, and offers more protection with impact absorption in 7 places vs AS's 5. The AS shorts are more comfortable on long rides, but only slightly, and to me protection > comfort anyways. If I could only keep one of the two, I would choose the Dainese.”

“More layers prevent your skin layer from being torn off. As a trauma doctor, I have seen it all. Your skin literally explodes off your muscle with impact. I wear these shorts under other productive pants. I tried the alpinestars version but these offer more protection. You never wished you had less protection.”

Verified buyerso far so good
“I have a 32-34 inch waist and got the Medium. While they are a little tight, I think that they will be fine after they break in for a while. I almost considered getting a large when i first tried them on, but the armor was sitting right where it was supposed to with the Mediums. The bottom of the legs are rubberized and will pull a leg hair or two, but it helps keep them in place. So overall, I really like these and just plan on giving them time to break in a little.”

The best I've seen
“These shorts fit great and have good protection everywhere. I looked at everything I could find in stores and on the web and I think these are the best combination of offering full coverage and still being comfortable. And the mesh fabric is cool, I don't know I'm wearing them as soon as I start my engine. I can even get armored up at home and these aren't a problem driving my pickup to the riding areas. I was hoping to find a short that included a chamois pad for comfort. I think the reason against that is then you would need to wash them much more often, and with the hard armor that would b”

Saved my thigh! Good additional gear
“Went for a slide with these babies under some textile pants and didn't even bruise. These shorts caught the road rash, not me.”

“I had my left hip resurfaced in March, and needed some solid protection. I have used the POC VPD shorts for mtn biking this summer, but wanted more protection for the dirt bike. I have used the Hard shorts twice so far and am sold. they have much more padding around the hip as well as coverage for the quads. Would definitely recommend!”

“Bought a pair the size XL really needed a little larger. But they saved the hide on my butt. Had a wreck at 45 mph rolled and slid never hurt my thighs or butt. Pants rubbed off but the shorts handled it. They had to cut them off because my knee dislocated and broke. Tried to order another pair but they are out. Glad I had them and the other armor.”

Essential Protective Gear
“After having bi-lateral hip replacements these protective shorts are essential. Since I started wearing these, I can't imagine riding without them ever again. They're the first piece of protective gear I put on and the last piece I take off after every ride. And, I ride every day regardless of the conditions. I live in Las Vegas where it's typically very hot and I havent noticed any additional warmth attributable to these shorts. They are very breathable. I highly recommend these for anyone riding anything that has a chance of making unintended contact with the ground/road. Write your r”

“I'm not quite sure if you are familiar with the Dainese brand but if you aren't let me tell you a little bit about Dainese. Dainese was founded in 1972 in Vicenza, ITALY with a pure vision AND MISSION "To advocate and deliver safety to people exposed to traumatic injuries in dynamic sports and everyday activities. So for the past 44 years Dainese has been carrying out that mission from the very beginning and by creating the worlds VERY FIRST BACK PROTECTOR in 1978 to today by creating D Air which is a airbag designed for motorcyclist. So it's safe to say for the past 44 years Dainese has been ”

“Have had these several years...I don't ride without them...for me, they are unnoticed under riding pants. wear a pair of regular underwear beneath. In colder weather sometimes go with some "gym" type shorts under or over. They are well designed, probably as cool as possible with the mesh construction. The padding is vented. Of course they will hold some heat but not unbearable. The leg openings have silicone "ring" that prevent them riding up. Once on and adjusted..they pretty much stay in place...some occasional adjusting (they tend to slide down a tad if moving about on the bike) when off ”
