Don't buy

“Jack stopped working after 4 months. Jacket charges but the clasp which is the on off button no longer worked. It stopped protecting me mid ride without any warning or me knowing. Having it fixed through warranty has been a pain. Given the run around by RevZilla and Dainese on warranty claim. Gota pay shipping to have it fixed. Will be jacketless for a few weeks.”

Almost Perfect - Just Breezy

“Overall I am very pleased with this jacket - just a couple of complaints - one, it is a mesh jacket and while it will be nice when the weather warms up, it doesn't provide any warmth on its own. Secondly, the hasp at the collar which activates the air bags is difficult to find when wearing gloves (which I always do). Finally, the collar is a little rough on the neck after a long ride. Other than that, the safety features it offers are worth every penny”

Great in the heat

“I love it, I wear it over a nike dri fit shirt. It's great in Texas and Louisiana 90+ heat. It's a bit heavy compared to icons Kevlar field armor, but this is CE Level 2 (worth it IMO) and still lighter than leather- it's even lighter than my Alpinestars textile jacket. It's my first pick when its hot. It'd be nice to have more pockets but it's fine.”

Comfortable airbag jacket

“I just returned from a 3 day trip in weather ranging from upper 50's to mid-80s and what follows are my initial impressions. The receipt and setup of the jacket was straightforward with the possible exception of attaching 2 wires that connect the L & R cylinders to the power source. Dainese could have done better to make this more understandable but I found a good video on You Tube showing the wire setup. Other than this, setup and registration went easily and the jacket software was up-to-date. I bought a sz 50 and my chest is 39; the fit was snug and comfortable. The jacket material is a str”

Not compatible with other USBC cables.

“Can only charge with the in-box cable. Will not charge with other USBC cable. Don't go traveling and assume any USBC cable will work. Otherwise jacket fits me well and armor stays in place as well as on my track leathers. Heavy though. Heavier than some of my armored leather jackets.”

5 years, 1 deployment

“I really like this since it is a jacket and not just a vest. I could wear it alone but choose not to. I like the jacket style because it has elbow armor, too. I wear it religiously under my Aerostich suit and find it comfortable and reassuring. It replaces all the shoulder, elbow and back padding of the Aerostich. I have deployed it once during a 25mph fall and I escaped uninjured. One caution, at least on the 5 year old model I have), is that I can't recharge ot myself. Also, I was unable to bring it on an aircraft check in or carry on due to the compressed gas (in cabin) and lithium batter”

The Dainese App did not work for me. Scoring due to non-functioning jacket.

“Dainese requires registration using their app. My computer recognizes the jacket, but the App does not. You cannot use the jacket without registration. App must recognize the jacket to proceed, therefore dead end on step one. Called Revzilla customer service, no clue tp fix. Gave me Dainese phone number for US. Dainese US, after detailed account, agent said not familiar, so was to transfer to tech guy. Tech guy, got voice mail. Called back 4 times, voice mails. Back to customer service US, said email my problem. Emailed account of problem to Dainese. No response. Had to ask return as time l”

Best airbag out there with some concessions which are actual pros.

“I've tried a few different airbags and this is the winner. Sure, it has its downsides like price, less coverage and only 1 inflation and an expensive re-fill but its still my choice and this is why. - Its super stretch everywhere - You can layer under and over it. Cold days, I have worn my puffy or heated Mosko Moto Ectotherm jacket under it and its all I needed. When it rains, I wear my stretch Scott Ergo Pro DP raincoat over it. - In hot weather, you wear it as is. Standalone and breezy. It really flows great air. No need to wear a jacket under or over it. You still have decent protection. S”

Almost perfect/Best in class

“I have purchased the original vest and had to put my jacket on over the vest which was a bit much. This simplifies everything? very comfortable, has adjustable hip straps that work great and keep lower back of the jacket down? air flow is excellent around airbag parts, my only gripe would be harder material in the elbows and shoulders? for this price tag, id expect metal?. Great overall protection!”

Unexpected Deployment

“Would not recommend this jacket, 6 months after buying it deployed while on an exit ramp due to a bump in the road. No crashing, No damage to the bike. Would have caused an accident if that had happened mid corner. Took it back and cyclegear gave me a refund. Went and replaced with the Tech Air 5”

“Very comfortable but needs additional layering in cold days. Too much to wear and layer. Will probably work better when the weather warms. In mean time will find a wind proof jacket as an additional layer. Better off having an airbag jacket made to wear under your usual jacket. Otherwise it is a nice product.”

Defective I do not recommend

“The airbag system was defective. I have the impression that the jacket had been previously returned as i was not able to registered it in the D-air App. So I returned the jacket same day i purchased, they told me Dainese airbags are not reliable and if you are looking for airbags Alpine star is a solid option”
